Agia Elesa

With a view of three seas!
The monastery is located in the south of the island and is built on a cliff at the top of a mountain, at the spot where Saint Elessa was martyred, killed by her father in 375 AD who did not accept her faith. The church was built in 1871, and the memory of Saint Elesis is celebrated on August 1st. The panoramic view from the monastery is unique, it gives the visitor the feeling of flying over the island, offering a unique view of the Cretan, Ionian and Aegean seas.
