Kato Hora

Kato Hora, Kythira, Mylopotamos

Περιγραφή

Preservable settlement Kato Hora!
It is located west of Kythira, and is one of the settlements of Mylopotamos. It is the first settlement of the village that was built there due to the protection from pirates provided by its location, hidden in the hills, but also overlooking the sea. In the settlement there are still preserved medieval houses, authentic examples of the traditional architecture of Mylopotamos and some of them are among the oldest in Kythira. In the square of the village there is the English school, which was built during the period of the British rule. There is the Venetian castle with the houses inside it preserved in relatively good condition, and several Byzantine churches. The settlement is classified as preserved and its layout is of great architectural interest. You consider the sunset from the castle to be one of the most beautiful in Kythira. In Kato Chora there are small traditional accommodation units.
