Castle Choras
A magnificent castle
Located south in Kythira, in the southern part of Chora capital city of the island. It is built on top of a steep cliff with a panoramic view on three seas, the Myrtoo, the Cretan and Ionian. It was built by the Venetians in several period of time from the 13th century and then the majority of 1503. Inside there including the big water tank with domes and arches, stately two-storey houses, the government which now houses the Historical Archive of Kythira, the church of Panagia Myrtidiotissa of 16th century. Outside the castle there is a second wall northerly enclosing the Closed Vourgo with many churches and houses.
